24 May 1941 sank British battlecruiser HMS Hood and damaged battleship HMS Prince of Wales in Denmark Strait. She herself was damaged by torpedoes from aircraft of HMS Victorious and later by aircraft from HMS Ark Royal, which left her unable to maneuver. Severely damaged by gunfire from battleships HMS King George V and HMS
Rodney, finally torpedoed and sunk by Dorsetshire 27 May 1941. Position 48o10' North, 16o12' West.
