- Service: Enlarged copy of Brazilian Riachuelo of 1893. Originally bark-rigged with three masts, but mizzenmast removed 1892. Completion delayed by nondelivery of armor. Sunk in Havana harbor by two explosions in forward part of the vessel, 15 Feb 1898. Although investigation concluded cause was a submarine mine, it is probable the explosions were internal. Raised 2 Feb 1912 and sunk at sea, 16 Mar 1912.
